How to Set Up Facebook Payouts and Tax Details
Approved for Facebook content monetization but not getting paid? Here's the exact order to set up your payout account and tax details, and why payments stall.

In this article
Facebook payout setup happens in the Professional dashboard under Monetization > Payouts. There you create a payout account with your business type, legal name and address, tax information and a payment method, and every detail has to match your official documents. Menus vary by country and change over time, so treat the labels below as a map, not a script.
Before you start: what to have ready
You need four things on hand before you open the form: your business type, your exact legal name and address, your tax details, and your bank or other payment details. Meta asks for all of them, and a mismatch between any two is the most common reason payments stall.
Business type, legal name and address
Choose "individual" or "business" based on who will legally receive the money. Then enter the name and address exactly as they appear on your ID, company registration or bank statement. No nicknames, no page name, no abbreviations you made up.
Tax details
Meta collects tax information so it can report and, where required, withhold tax. What you're asked for depends on your country and business type. Have your tax ID and legal name ready, and check Meta Business Help Center for the form that applies to you.
Bank or other payment method details
Use an account that's in the same legal name as your payout account. The account holder name on the bank side is what gets checked. Available methods differ by country, so only the options you're shown are real for you.
Who should own the payout account
The person who legally receives the money should own it, and that person should be an admin of the page. Agencies running several pages often get this wrong. If a freelancer set it up under their own name and then leaves, you've got a payment problem you can't fix without them.
Pre-flight checklist: legal name, address, tax form details and bank account holder name should be identical across all four. Fix this before you submit, not after.
Where payout settings live on Facebook
Payout and tax settings sit inside the Professional dashboard, under the Monetization tab. On mobile, open the Facebook app, tap the menu (three lines), tap Professional dashboard, then go to Tools and select Monetization. On desktop, you reach the same area through your page's professional tools or Meta Business Suite.
There's no separate payout app. If you can't see a Monetization option at all, your profile or page may not have Professional mode on, or it isn't eligible yet. Menus can differ between mobile and desktop, so check both if one looks incomplete.
How to set up your payout account step by step
You set up a payout account in four moves: open Monetization, pick a business type, add a payment method, and confirm. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes if your documents are in front of you.
Open Professional dashboard > Monetization
Go to Professional dashboard, then Tools, then Monetization. Find the Payouts section or tab. If Meta is prompting you to set up payouts, you'll often see a banner pointing there.
Choose business type and enter details
Select individual or business, then enter your legal name and address. Pick your country carefully, because it decides which tax forms and payment methods appear next.
Add your payment method
Choose from the methods offered, usually a bank account, and enter the details. Double-check the account number or IBAN character by character. One wrong digit means a rejected payment, not a typo you can wave away.
Confirm and submit
Review everything, submit, and look for a status like "active" or "under review" in the Payouts tab. Some details need verification, so don't panic if it isn't instant.
How to add Facebook tax information
You add tax information in the same payout flow, and Meta usually requires it before a payout account counts as complete. Look for a tax information section in the Payouts area and fill in the form it shows for your country.
Use your legal name exactly as on your tax records. Enter your tax ID without guessing, and sign or confirm where asked. Tax rules and forms differ by country and Meta updates them, so if you're unsure what applies to you, ask a local tax professional. We can't give tax advice here.
What happens if you don't set up a payout account
Without a payout account, Meta limits how much you can earn. According to Meta's help pages, earnings are capped at about $500 per monetization tool, with a maximum of $1,500 across three tools. Verify the current figure on Meta's pages, since limits can change.
Setup alone also doesn't trigger payment. There's a payout threshold and a schedule, so a finished account can still show nothing for weeks. And if you're wondering how much Facebook pays per 1,000 views, nobody can promise a number. RPM varies by content, audience and country, so use the free Facebook earnings calculator for a rough estimate, never as a promise.
Why a Facebook payout fails or gets stuck
Most failed or stuck payouts come from details that don't match, not from Facebook "glitches." We've watched page owners lose weeks to a single abbreviated middle name. Use this table to go from symptom to cause.
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Payout account "needs attention" | Name or address differs from documents | Edit the payout account, correct, resubmit |
| Tax section incomplete | Missing or outdated tax form | Re-enter tax information |
| Payment returned or rejected | Bank holder name or number mismatch | Correct the bank details or switch method |
| Can't see Payouts tab | Not the account owner or page admin | Log in with the right admin profile |
Mismatched names and details
Legal name on the payout account, tax form and bank account must be the same. Same for the address. Don't "fix" it by changing the bank; update the payout account to match your official documents.
Incomplete or outdated tax information
Tax information can expire or be flagged when your details change. If you've moved, changed business status or renamed a company, update it.
Payment method rejected
Banks reject payments for closed accounts, wrong numbers or accounts that can't receive international transfers. Try another method if Meta offers one.
Payout account owner is not the person logged in
If someone else created the payout account, you won't see or edit it. Get admin access, or have the owner make the change.
If the block is a policy restriction rather than missing details, that's a different problem from setup.
How to check, edit or change your payout account
The Payouts tab is where you check payout status, update account records and view statements. Open it the same way you set it up: Professional dashboard > Monetization > Payouts. Logging in is the same Facebook login, with admin access to the page.
To change your payout account, edit the existing record there and update the name, address, tax details or payment method, then resubmit. Expect a short review. Make changes before a payout date, not on it, and keep your statements for your own records.
Frequently asked questions
How do I set my Facebook account to get paid?
Open the Professional dashboard, go to Tools > Monetization > Payouts, and create a payout account with your business type, legal name, address, tax information and payment method. Your page must be approved for monetization first.
Can I get paid on Facebook without a payout account?
Not beyond a limit. Meta's help says earnings are capped at about $500 per monetization tool, with a maximum of $1,500 across three tools. Check Meta's current figure.
Why is my Facebook payout not arriving after setup?
Setup doesn't release money on its own. You also need to reach the payout threshold, wait for the payout schedule, and have matching, verified details in the Payouts tab.
