How to Schedule Reels with Meta Business Suite (Desktop and Mobile)

The exact click path to schedule Facebook Reels in Meta Business Suite, plus the checklist that prevents bad posts and a fix table for when scheduling fails.

In this article

You schedule a Facebook Reel in Meta Business Suite by opening Create reel, uploading the video, adding a caption and cover, then choosing Schedule and picking a date and time inside the allowed window (roughly 29 days ahead, but confirm that in your own account). The same flow works on desktop and in the Meta Business Suite mobile app, though menu labels shift from time to time.

Most scheduling problems aren't technical. They're preparation problems, so start there.

Before you schedule: what to prepare

Scheduling goes wrong most often because the cover, caption or page was wrong before you pressed Schedule, not because the tool failed. Once a Reel is queued, you won't look at it again until it's live, and that's when you discover the blurry frame or the wrong page.

We've watched people queue a full week of Reels in one evening and then spend Monday morning fixing them one by one. A two-minute check per video prevents that.

Pre-schedule checklist: file, cover, caption, page selected

  • File: vertical 9:16, 1080×1920, MP4, within Reels length limits. A wrong ratio gets cropped or letterboxed, and you'll only notice after publishing.
  • Cover image: pick it deliberately. The auto-selected frame is often a mid-motion blur.
  • Caption: written, proofread, hashtags included. A blank caption is the most common regret.
  • Page selected: confirm the right Facebook Page (and the right Instagram account, if you're posting there too) at the top of the composer.
  • Originality: it's your own footage, voiceover or edit, not someone else's reposted clip. Meta can limit reach on unoriginal content, and that rule may change.

If your exports keep failing quality checks, sort out resolution and bitrate first. Scheduling a bad file just delays the problem.

How to schedule a Reel on desktop

On desktop, you schedule a Reel from Meta Business Suite by choosing Create reel, filling in the details, and opening Scheduling options before you publish. It takes under a minute once the file is ready.

Create the Reel and set the schedule

  1. Go to Meta Business Suite in your browser and select the correct Page.
  2. Click Create reel (on some accounts it sits under Create post or the Content tab).
  3. Upload your video. Wait until processing finishes.
  4. Add the caption, choose or upload a cover, and adjust the other settings.
  5. Scroll to Scheduling options and switch from publishing now to scheduling.

Choose date and time

Pick the date and a time, then click Schedule. The time uses your account's time zone, so check it if you manage Pages for audiences elsewhere. After scheduling, the Reel appears in your Content tab and in the calendar.

For Meta's current wording and steps, the Meta Business Help Center is the source to trust, since the interface changes more often than blog posts get updated.

How to schedule a Reel in the mobile app

In the Meta Business Suite app for iPhone or Android, you tap Create, choose Reel, and use the same fields as on desktop. The order is nearly identical: select the video, add caption and cover, then set the schedule.

  1. Open the Meta Business Suite app and pick your Page.
  2. Tap the Create (+) button, then Reel.
  3. Choose the video from your camera roll and tap Next.
  4. Add the caption, cover and any settings.
  5. Toggle the scheduling option, set date and time, and confirm.

Mobile is fine for a single Reel. For a week's worth, desktop is faster and easier to proofread. And if the app misbehaves, update it first, because outdated versions are a common cause of missing options.

Scheduling limits: how far ahead and what you can't do

Facebook Reels can generally only be scheduled a limited time ahead, commonly cited as up to about 29 days. Treat that number as a guide and check the date picker in your account, because Meta changes limits and rolls out features unevenly.

Other limits follow normal Reels rules: length, 9:16 format and file size. Features can also vary by account, so a colleague may see an option you don't.

Instagram Reels can be scheduled in Meta Business Suite too, as long as an Instagram professional account (business or creator) is connected. Facebook and Instagram have their own limits and options, so don't assume one tool behaves identically on both.

How to reschedule or edit a scheduled Reel

To reschedule a Facebook Reel, open the Content tab, find the scheduled Reel, select it and change the time, or cancel it. The Planner and the calendar view show the same queue laid out by day.

What you can edit after scheduling can vary. If the time and caption are editable, use that. If something like the video file isn't, delete the scheduled Reel and create it again. That's annoying, but it's quicker than posting a flawed Reel live.

The calendar is also useful as a sanity check. Open it once a week and look for gaps and clusters, since two Reels at 6:00 PM on the same Page compete with each other.

Why you can't schedule Reels or a scheduled Reel doesn't post

When Schedule is missing or a Reel doesn't publish, the cause is usually access, an outdated app, an account link problem or a file still processing. No single fix works for everyone, so work through the likely causes in order.

Permissions matter more than people expect. If your account lacks full control over the Page, or the Page and Instagram account sit in different places inside your Meta Business Portfolio, options can disappear. Ask the Page admin to check your access.

Quick fixes table: symptom, likely cause, what to do

SymptomLikely causeWhat to do
Schedule option missingLimited page access or permissionsAsk an admin to review your role in the Business Portfolio
Schedule option missing on mobileOutdated app or feature not rolled outUpdate the app, then try desktop
Can't pick a dateDate outside the allowed windowChoose an earlier date; confirm the limit in your account

If nothing works, log out and back in, try another browser, and then contact Meta support through the Help Center. We won't pretend there's a guaranteed fix.

A simple batch-scheduling routine for several pages

The fastest routine for several Pages is to make all videos first, schedule them in one desktop session, and review the calendar once at the end. Mixing creation and scheduling is what burns time.

  1. Create in a batch. Produce the week's Reels in one sitting. A tool like WowReveal can turn source video into 9:16 shorts with captions and covers ready, which removes most of the prep from the checklist above.
  2. Name files by Page and date. Something like pagename-mon-1800.mp4 prevents scheduling to the wrong Page.
  3. Schedule Page by Page. Switch Pages deliberately and run the checklist each time.
  4. Review the calendar. Look for duplicates, gaps and odd times.
  5. Check live posts. Spend 5 minutes each day confirming that yesterday's Reels published correctly.

Scheduling doesn't improve a weak video. It just removes the daily scramble, so you spend your attention on the hook and the edit instead.
